Construction of a new cement plant in Mali

Following a press release from the company Ciments et Matériaux du Mali (CMM) on April 21, it is stated that during the International Industry Fair of Mali an Establishment Agreement between the Malian State and society Cements and Materials of Mali SA (CMM) has been signed.

This is part of the government's desire to industrialize the Koulikoro region, to which belongs the city of Diago. The cost is estimated at nearly 20 billion CFA, and will be active in the first semester of 2019.

It is stated that "the cement plant will have an annual production capacity of 500,000 tons per year [and will allow] the creation of around a hundred direct jobs and more than a thousand indirect jobs".

In addition, it will contribute to cement self-sufficiency in Mali and to the consolidation of the economic and social fabric.

It is important to note that this project is carried out in partnership with the international cement group Vicat.

As a reminder, at this first edition of the Industry Fair "all objectives have been achieved", according to the Minister of Industrial Development, Mohamed Aly Ag Ibrahim. At the closing of the event, the first benefits were estimated at the signing of about twenty conventions relating to industrial projects.
