Paul Noumba Um is World Bank Country Director for South Africa, Namibia, Lesotho, Botswana, Swaziland, Zambia and Zimbabwe. He holds a PhD in Economics from Rennes University, Master’s Degrees in Engineering and Economics from France, and a BA in Engineering from the Cameroonian National Post and Telecom School. Coming from Orange Labs, Um joined the Bank in 1998 in the then Energy, Mining, and Telecommunication Department and subsequently held positions at the World Bank Institute, the Middle East/North Africa Region, and in Finance and Private Sector Development in Africa. He was most recently Country Director for Mali, Niger and Chad.
